The two important family connections are firstly the Longstaffs, a Lincolnshire family. John Holt was born in Garthorpe then married Eliza Longstaff . John Longstaff , Eliza's brother married Lucie Antoinette Juvet. Eliza's son Robert and his cousin John Junior both studied in Geneva and were frequent visitors to the villa of Lucie's brother Alphonse in Versoix . Robert then married Alphonse's daughter Lucy.
The Longstaffs lived near the Holts in Lincolnshire and there were frequent two way visits between Versoix and Broughton so there was close connection between all three families
